Memebox Unboxing & Review of My Holiday Glam #2

So I'm not really into those subscription boxes but I love Memebox. Memebox is a website that sells Korean makeup and skincare and makes them more accessible in the U.S.  I'm a super couponer so the value of the many products I buy is an important factor when I make that final click and confirm a purchase online.  I admit the surprise is also nice when opening these mystery boxes.  I ordered in the beginning of February a mystery box from Memebox called My Holiday Glam #2.  It was a Christmas edition that they were re-promoting.  I am so happy I got the opportunity to snag it before it got sold out again. One thing about Memebox, boxes get sold out fast!

Onto the review of the box itself, I was pretty excited to unbox this one as I had heard great reviews about it.  It comes with 8 products, more geared towards makeup. I've received in the past a couple of their Black Friday boxes that were more geared towards skincare, so it was a nice change to see some Korean makeup.  Here's a picture of the box itself:

This was $29.99 so this was a great deal considering you get 7 products! All full sizes!  Now onto the products.

First was the White Flower BB Cream from Deoproce.  I have never heard from this brand before but my first inital impressions are good.  It's regularly $12 and is 30g of product.  I got shade #21 which is a good match for me in winter.  The texture is similar to a tinted moisturizer and feels very lightweight.  It blends out pretty well and offers light coverage that is good for your no-makeup days.

The next product is the Wholly Deep Jewel Pot in the color #6 Burgundy from Peripera.  It retails $29 and is 3g of product.  I could stare at this baby for so long! Feels like the L'oreal loose eyeshadows.  Its such a pretty eyeshadow that in my extensive color collection, I do not have!  Would look great with black smoked out in the crease.

The next product is Vivito's Painting Jelly Tint in color RD02 Squeeze Cherry.  It retails $29 and is 5.5 grams of product.  It's a watery tint that is awesome for a great lip stain. Its a cherry red-orange. I love the heart-shaped applicator for this one too! In addition, the color on this one will not budge. I tried taking it off with a makeup wipe and it would not get off! I haven't tried out that whole gradation trend yet on my lips but I will try it out with this lip tint. You can layover it on for it to be more opaque but I kind of like it a little sheer so my own lip color shows through.

The next product is the Rockcat Girl Waterproof Pencil Liner in Purple by Dearberry.  It retails for $5 and is 7 grams of product.  Its a retractable mechanical pencil.  I hate ones that you have to sharpen! The color is a muted dark purple.  Not as silky or pigmented as I would like but I think it would be great for the tracing the bottom.  Picture below shows one light swipe and then about 3-4 swipes.

I also received two nailpolishes from Eclipse in the colors Poppy Red and Fresh Green. They retail for $7 each and are 15 ml of product.  These nail polishes are great!  They are true Christmas colors. The brush application is great and provides even coverage.  The picture below shows only one coat on my nail.  They are pretty opaque. I hate sheer nailpolishes. I've worn it for 3 days and have not seen any chipping! One thing I love about these are how fast they dry.  They were good within 5 minutes!

The last thing in the Memebox was a unique mirror from Cool Enough Studio.  This retails for $15. It is an odd rectangular shape and even more odd is that it works!  Its four-sided and I love how I slim it is for my purse.  I can check out my eye makeup up close and then pull down to check out my lips.  It comes with a great case too that keeps the fingerprints away.

Overall I was really pleased with this Memebox. They did a great job tying these items together for a complete holiday look with the products and color selection.  This one was definitely a great box for the value.  I was introduced to many new brands.  Some of my favorites out of the box definitely have to be Peripera's Wholly Deep Jewel Pot and Vivito's Painting Jelly Tint.  Will have to check out some other colors from their line!

Tried and True & Tested and New

So I love makeup! And so I'm doing a series to showcase some of my favorites and my recent hauls all in one.  So in the first section, here are some of my tried and true makeup items that I am loving at the moment.

I have been loving my Sephora Microsmooth Baked Foundation, it hasn't broken me out and provides great coverage. You can't go wrong with Estee Lauder Double Wear! I have the light version and it is a really lightweight feeling but still has great coverage. I also have the concealer which has awesome staying power. I can't ever put on eyeshadows without primer.  I'll use the Urban Decay, anti-aging primer which helps a little with my crepy eyelids.  I also like using Jordana's 24 hour eyeshadow sticks. The color I use the most is almond cream.  I have two IT Cosmetics products I use everytime I put on makeup. I have the It Cosmetics' Bye Bye Redness cream which I use for my redness around my nose.  It does a great job cancelling the redness out. I also have the It Cosmetics' Bye Bye undereye corrector for my really bad circles under my eyes. Both are staples I always need.  Another thing I need is eyeliner.  I like liquid eyeliner and Stila Stay the Day is great.  It's easy to apply and doesn't fade.  On quick days when I don't have time to blend eyeshadows, I love using Maybelline's Color Tattoos. My favorite color right now is Creamy Beige.  I can't leave the house without mascara! I love Too Faced's Better than Sex mascara. It gives my barely noticeable lashes the volume it needs.  Now when I need something extra special when going out, I always reach for my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder palette. These are great highlighters!

Now onto some of the tested and new products that I have recently hauled.

So I've been on a kick lately with foundation. Three that I've recently bought to try out are Hourglass Immaculate, Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous, and Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. Still trying out Hourglass, I bought it for special occasions and there haven't been many for me to try out this foundation with so still on the fence with this one. Both the Covergirl and Jouer foundations are awesome for quick foundation coverage when I'm on the go. I have also been trying It Cosmetics' Bye Bye Pores Poreless Finish HD mirco-powder. I've heard such great things about this powder. I've only tried it a couple of times and am liking it so far. I don't think it necessarily does anything about the look of my pores though.  I got a tube of Paula's Choice Shine Stopper in my Dermstore Blush Mystery Bag awhile ago.  It does seem to be a great primer that keeps the oilies away. I also got The Body Shop's Honey Bronzing Powder in 02 Fair Matte. It's a very light bronzer that I have been enjoying as a blush and all over color to give color back to my pale skin without looking too bronzed in this winter weather. I just recently hauled a whole lot of drugstore lip products so look forward to that in the next post!

Current Haircare Favorites

With my hair being over 10 inches long now, I have been concentrating on taking care of my hair. It gets so tangly and it doesn't help when I get lazy and don't comb it in the morning, with working at home.  I've been trying the new WEN conditioner ( I got a great introductory offer through Swagbucks).  L'oreal Eversleek is also a good sulfate-free alternative too. It does help make it less oily and helps my hair stay fresher longer but I haven't yet felt anything else yet.  I also have been trying to use up my Redken All Soft liters that I got last last year at Ulta during their liter sale.  When I want to clarify my hair, I like to use Pantene's Weekly Deep Cleanse. I also like using deep treatment masques like Redken's Diamond Oil instead of conditioners. Aussie's 3 minute Moist deep conditioner is always a good go-to as well.  I also got K-Pak Joico's deep conditioner on clearance at Walgreens, so I've been mixing this up with other deep treatments.

After I towel dry my hair, I like to put oils like Suave Natural Infusions Moroccan Oil or Dove Pure Care Dry Oil on my ends of my hair and either my L'oreal Triple Resist Stray or Dove Oxygen Moisture Root Spray in my roots. For days, my dry hair looks frizzy, I like using my It's a 10 leave-in product.

I also like to use dry shampoos on my second day hair to get the oilies out. I like Pssst! and Batiste.  Gotta have a travel size one for traveling or for the car. For styling, I like to use L'oreal Elnett, the unscented version.  For de-tangling before  I comb, I use Pantene's Repair Light detangling spray.  I also use this on my daughter's unruly hair. It's a decent detangler.

Yes, I's a lot of products.  Sad thing is I don't use them often since there's so many that I switch using them up all the time.  Trying to change that for sure though!  Just a little hard for a product junkie like me.

Lots of changes!

Wow, has this past year been full of changes. My family and I moved to a whole new smaller city with no one we know.  I am now working from home.  New home and a new job environment.  So far, the smaller city sucks.  Really dead and no shopping options.  Working from home is awesome. I finally have a work life balance that I never actually have had.  Which leads me to this blog.  I am dedicating for this year to do more, use more of what I have already, and enjoy life!  I really want to start saving for a house and a trip this year.  I need to start eating healthy and hitting the gym.  I want to concentrate on being a better mother and wife, as well.  Hopefully sticking to this blog will help me be more accountable to my goals and keep track of my progress!

New Products for 2012

Oh my goodness. So many product launches for the beginning of the year. I'm excited to try them all out. So far, I've used Maybelline Eye Tattoo in Tough as Taupe. It was okay. Not too excited about the color. But I did buy it in Pomengrate Punk. Very pretty and I want to try it in a look. I'll probably go and buy the other colors. I only swatched the new L'oreal Infallible eyeshadows and they look awesome. I have continuous cocoa, amber rush, bronzed taupe, perpetual purple, and the dark blue one. I want to get the eternal black one. Kind of hesitant to use them since they are essentially loose powder, even though they are very creamy. I'm not too interested in the Maybelline Bouncy blushes since I've heard reviews they are not too pigmented. I did try the Maybelline Master Precision liquid eyeliner. I like it a lot. Very pigmented and easy to control to get a thick or thin line. I want to try the Covergirl Line Blast 24 Hr. The other things out like L'oreal's lumi line and Maybelline's Illegal lengths, not sure if I'm going to get. Hmm..I'll have to stop by the drugstore.
